We updated Analyses and Quick Facts for:
Dec 14, 2022 This analysis focuses on the financial and operating trends of 160 global oil and natural gas companies from 2017 through third-quarter 2022.
Dec 14, 2022 According to our recently released report on 2021 energy-related CO2 emissions, U.S. CO2 emissions from the consumption of fossil fuels totaled 4,904 million metric tons (MMmt) in 2021, an increase of 7% (325 MMmt) from 2020. This change in emissions is a result of both short- and long-term factors, but most notably a return toward pre-pandemic economic activity. This analysis is based on data contained in the October 2022 Monthly Energy Review.
Dec 12, 2022 The Drilling Productivity Report has been updated with the latest charts and methodology.
Dec 6, 2022 Global oil inventories in our forecast fall by 0.2 million barrels per day (b/d) in the first half of 2023 (1H23) before rising by almost 0.7 million b/d in 2H23. This forecast leaves global oil inventories higher at the end of 2023 than we had forecast in the November STEO, which results in our Brent crude oil price forecast averaging $92 per barrel (b) in 2023, $3/b less than we had forecast last month.

Nov 30, 2022 These monthly production estimates are based on data from Form EIA-914, Monthly Crude Oil, Lease Condensate, and Natural Gas Production Report.
Nov 30, 2022 Monthly data on rail movements of crude oil have been updated for September 2022. Crude oil movements by rail have significantly increased during the past five years. The data on crude-by-rail (CBR) movements are also fully integrated with EIA’s existing monthly petroleum supply statistics, which already include crude oil movements by pipeline, tanker, and barge.
Nov 30, 2022 Imports data at the company level collected from Form EIA-814, Monthly Imports Report.
Nov 30, 2022 In September 2022, dry natural gas production increased year over year for the month for the 18th consecutive month. The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in September 2022 was 2,997 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 99.9 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d). This level was 5.0% (4.8 Bcf/d) higher than September 2021 (95.1 Bcf/d) and the highest level for any month since 1973, when we began tracking dry natural gas production. Gross withdrawals also increased from September 2021

Nov 30, 2022 Supply and disposition of crude oil and petroleum products on a national and regional level. The data describe production, imports and exports, movements, and inventories.
Nov 23, 2022 Data in the November 2022 Electric Power Monthly (EPM) are for September 2022, during which net generation in the United States rose 0.9 percent from the September 2021 level. Consumption of natural gas for power generation was up 13.2 percent compared to September 2021. The average residential retail price of electricity was up 15.4 percent from the September 2021 level.
Nov 23, 2022 This month’s Electric Monthly Update contains data for September 2022 and a feature article about how U.S. electricity customers experienced seven hours of power interruptions in 2021.
Nov 22, 2022 The Monthly Energy Review is our comprehensive report on recent and historical energy statistics. According to our November 2022 report, preliminary estimates indicate that U.S. total primary energy consumption equaled 8.5 quadrillion British thermal units in August 2022, which was virtually unchanged from August 2021. Primary energy consumption in the electric power sector accounted for 43% of the total, the transportation sector for 29%, the industrial sector for 23%, and the commercial and residential sectors for 3% each.
As U.S. crude oil and natural gas production have increased, so has the volume of production declines from existing wells. To offset the increasing declines, operators today must bring on new wells to sustain or increase production levels. More ›
