We updated Analyses and Quick Facts for:
Jan 18, 2022 Because drilling new wells has been significantly reduced, the inventory of drilled but uncompleted (DUC) wells provides short-term reserve for the completion of new wells. The September supplement to the Drilling Productivity Report reviews how DUC well inventory functions as a necessary buffer between drilling activities and oil demand.
Jan 13, 2022 This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through January 11, 2022 and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Jan 13, 2022 This spreadsheet contains detailed information on liquids (crude oil, petroleum products, and hydrocarbon gas liquids) pipeline projects that have been completed (since 2010), announced, or canceled or are on hold or under construction. We do not collect the data on an EIA survey, but rather we compile the data from various sources including trade press, pipeline company websites, and government agencies. These data are not a forecast. They represent last-known public information on projects, as of December 17, 2022. We will update this spreadsheet twice a year.
Jan 13, 2022 According to its Proved Reserves of Crude Oil and Natural Gas in the United States, Year-End 2020 report, EIA states that in 2020 proved reserves of crude oil and lease condensate fell 19%, and proved natural gas reserves declined by 4%.
Jan 13, 2022 Our Well Distribution Report presents annual state-level data on the distribution of wells by size and technology and analyzes emerging trends for 2020. Oil and natural gas wells drilled horizontally through hydrocarbon-bearing formations are among the most productive wells in the United States. In 2020, about 78% of the more than 936,000 U.S. wells produced less than 15 barrels of oil equivalent per day, and the total number of horizontally drilled wells has increased 61% from 2014.
Jan 11, 2022 The STEO continues to reflect heightened levels of uncertainty as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 raises questions about global energy consumption. U.S. real GDP declined by 3.4% in 2020 from 2019 levels. Based on forecasts that use the IHS Markit macroeconomic model, we estimate U.S. GDP increased 5.7% in 2021 and that it will rise by 4.3% in 2022 and by 2.8% in 2023. In addition to macroeconomic uncertainties, uncertainty about winter weather and consumer energy demand also present a wide range of potential outcomes for energy consumption. Supply uncertainty in the forecast stems from uncertainty about OPEC+ production decisions and the rate at which U.S. oil and natural gas producers will increase drilling.
Jan 7, 2022 Annual state-level estimates of natural gas consumption, prices, and expenditures.
Jan 3, 2022 The January 2022 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through October 2021 presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined petroleum products sales in the United States.
Jan 3, 2022 The Quarterly Coal Distribution Report (QCDR) provides detailed U.S. domestic coal distribution data (excluding waste coal and imports) for third-quarter 2021 by coal-origin state, coal-destination state, mode of transportation, and consuming sector. Quarterly coal distribution data for all quarters are preliminary and will be updated in the corresponding Annual Coal Distribution Report.
Jan 3, 2022 U.S. coal production during the third quarter of 2021 totaled 148.3 million short tons (MMst), which was 3.9% higher than the previous quarter and 9.1% higher than the third quarter of 2020. Third-quarter 2021 U.S. coal exports (20.7 MMst) decreased 6.4% from the second-quarter 2021 level and increased 35.8% from the third-quarter 2020 level. U.S. coal imports in the third quarter of 2021 totaled 1.1 MMst. All data for 2020 and previous years are final. All data for 2021 are preliminary.
Dec 30, 2021 Supply and disposition of crude oil and petroleum products on a national and regional level. The data describe production, imports and exports, movements, and inventories.
Dec 30, 2021 Imports data at the company level collected from Form EIA-814, Monthly Imports Report.
Dec 30, 2021 In October 2021, dry natural gas production increased year over year for the month for the seventh consecutive month. The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in October 2021 was 2,963 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 95.6 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d). This level was 6.3 Bcf/d (7.1%) higher than October 2020 (89.3 Bcf/d) and the second highest for the month since 1973, when we began tracking dry natural gas production. Both gross withdrawals and marketed production also increased from October 2020
Dec 30, 2021 These monthly production estimates are based on data from Form EIA-914, Monthly Crude Oil, Lease Condensate, and Natural Gas Production Report.
Dec 30, 2021 This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through December 28, 2021 and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Dec 30, 2021 Monthly data on rail movements of crude oil have been updated for October 2021. Crude oil movements by rail have significantly increased during the past five years. The data on crude-by-rail (CBR) movements are also fully integrated with EIA’s existing monthly petroleum supply statistics, which already include crude oil movements by pipeline, tanker, and barge.
