Sep 27, 2021 The Monthly Energy Review is our comprehensive report on recent and historical energy statistics. Preliminary estimates indicate that in June 2021, U.S. total primary energy consumption equaled 8.0 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu), a 10% increase from June 2020. The electric power sector accounted for 42% of the total, the transportation sector for 29%, the industrial sector for 24%, and the residential and commercial sectors for 3% each.
Sep 24, 2021 Data in the September 2021 Electric Power Monthly (EPM) are for July 2021, during which net generation in the United States fell 2.3 percent from the July 2020 level. Consumption of natural gas for power generation was down 10.0 percent compared to July 2020. The average residential retail price of electricity was up 4.9 percent from the July 2020 level.
Sep 24, 2021 Indonesia, with a population of 274 million people in 2020, is the most populous country in Southeast Asia and the fourth most populous country in the world, behind China, India, and the United States. The country is located along a strategic maritime transit route: the Strait of Malacca. In addition to crude oil, Indonesia produces and exports coal and natural gas. In 2020, Indonesia exported the most coal by weight in the world and ranked as one of the top 20 exporters of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The country has also quickly increased its biofuel production levels, and in 2019 it became the world’s largest producer of biodiesel.
Sep 24, 2021 This month’s Electric Monthly Update contains data for July 2021 and a feature article about how battery storage applications have shifted as more batteries are added to the grid.
Sep 23, 2021 This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through September 21, 2021 and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Sep 21, 2021 The 2018 Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) building characteristics estimates are now available. This release includes the number of buildings and floorspace by characteristics such as geographic region, building activity, size and age, employment and occupancy, energy sources used, and energy-related equipment.
Sep 21, 2021 The Prime Supplier Report presents data through July 2021 on Form EIA-782C, Monthly Report of Prime Supplier Sales of Petroleum Products Sold for Local Consumption. These data measure primary product deliveries into the states where they are locally marketed and consumed.
Sep 17, 2021 Ecuador withdrew its membership from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) effective January 1, 2020. According to Ecuador’s government, the country’s decision to withdraw its OPEC membership was part of the government’s rigorous plan to reduce public spending, promote public-private partnerships, and implement more market-friendly economic policies that generate new income. In 2020, Ecuador was the fifth-largest oil producer in South America behind Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Venezuela.
Sep 17, 2021 We have released the last grouping of data and tables for the 2018 Manufacturing Energy Consumption Survey (MECS). These data include price and expenditure data as well as ratios of fuel consumption per number of employees, dollar of value added, and dollar of value of shipments. The next MECS (2022) will be fielded in early 2023. Please stay tuned for more updates.

EIA updated Analyses and Quick Facts for:
Sep 15, 2021 This web page contains spreadsheets with 2020 final data on electricity generation, fuel consumption, fossil fuel stocks, fuel receipts, and environmental operations data from the 2020 Form EIA-923, Power Plant Operations Report.
Sep 15, 2021 This report contains monthly summary data for the photovoltaic industry in the United States. Data include manufacturing, imports, and exports of modules in the United States and its territories. Summary data include volumes in peak kilowatts and average prices. Where possible, imports and exports are listed by country, and shipments to the United States are listed by state.
Sep 13, 2021 Azerbaijan is a net energy exporter; crude oil and natural gas production and exports are central to Azerbaijan’s economy and government revenues. Natural gas accounts for over two–thirds of Azerbaijan’s total domestic energy consumption. Oil supplies less than one–third of total energy consumption.
Sep 13, 2021 Because drilling new wells has been significantly reduced, the inventory of drilled but uncompleted (DUC) wells provides short-term reserve for the completion of new wells. The September supplement to the Drilling Productivity Report reviews how DUC well inventory functions as a necessary buffer between drilling activities and oil demand.
Sep 9, 2021 This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through September 7, 2021 and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Sep 9, 2021 EIA has posted the final annual electric generator data from Form EIA-860 for 2020. The 2020 data include an additional 901 plants representing 46,925 megawatts (MW) of capacity.
Sep 8, 2021 The September Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) remains subject to heightened levels of uncertainty related to the ongoing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. U.S. economic activity continues to rise after reaching multiyear lows in the second quarter of 2020 (2Q20). U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) declined by 3.4% in 2020 from 2019 levels. This STEO assumes U.S. GDP will grow by 6.0% in 2021 and by 4.4% in 2022. The U.S. macroeconomic assumptions in this outlook are based on forecasts by IHS Markit. Our forecast assumes continuing economic growth and increasing mobility. Any developments that would cause deviations from these assumptions would likely cause energy consumption and prices to deviate from our forecast.
