Yemen Country Analysis Brief

Nov 13, 2020
Although Yemen is not a major hydrocarbon producer relative to several other countries in the Middle East, the country has sufficient oil and natural gas resources for both domestic demand and exports. However, Yemen's difficult security environment hinders the production and transport of those resources.

Philippines Country Analysis Brief

Nov 12, 2020
The Philippines is a net energy importer, even though its consumption levels are low relative to its Southeast Asian neighbors and it produces fossil fuels domestically. Renewable energy sources account for a significant share of electricity generation.

Short-Term Energy Outlook

Nov 10, 2020
The November Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) remains subject to heightened levels of uncertainty because responses to COVID-19 continue to evolve. Reduced economic activity related to the COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes in energy demand and supply patterns in 2020 and will continue to affect these patterns in the future. U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) declined by 4.4% in the first half of 2020 compared with the same period a year ago. GDP began rising in the third quarter of 2020, and this STEO assumes it will grow by 3.7% from 2020 to 2021. The U.S. macroeconomic assumptions in this outlook are based on forecasts by IHS Markit.

South Korea Country Analysis Brief

Nov 6, 2020
South Korea relies on imports to meet nearly all of its fossil fuel consumption as a result of insufficient domestic resources. The country is one of the world’s leading energy importers and ranks among the world’s top five importers of liquefied natural gas (LNG), coal, and total petroleum liquids.

Domestic Uranium Production Report – Quarterly

State Electricity Profiles updated with 2019 data

Nov 2, 2020
EIA has released the State Electricity Profiles with final data through 2019. The state-level data cover the following topics and more:

  • Electricity sales
  • Electricity generation
  • Electricity generating capacity
  • Supply and disposition balance
  • Power plant emissions
  • Energy efficiency and advanced metering

The profiles also include a new table on distributed capacity.

Nov 2, 2020
The November 2020 Petroleum Marketing Monthly (PMM), with data through August 2020 presents monthly and annual price and volume statistics covering crude oil and refined petroleum products sales in the United States.

Japan Country Analysis Brief

Oct 30, 2020
Japan is the world's largest liquefied natural gas importer and ranks in the top five countries for the highest coal imports and consumption of crude oil and petroleum products. Japan is gradually bringing back nuclear power generation after a complete shutdown of the industry following the Fukushima accident, and the country continues to rely on fossil fuel imports to supply most of its energy needs.

Natural Gas Monthly

Oct 30, 2020
In August 2020, for the fourth consecutive month, dry natural gas production decreased year over year for the month. The preliminary level for dry natural gas production in August 2020 was 2,801 billion cubic feet (Bcf), or 90.4 Bcf/d. This level was 4.5 Bcf/d (-4.7%) lower than the August 2019 level of 94.8 Bcf/d. Despite this year-over-year decrease, the average daily rate of dry production was the second highest for the month since the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) began tracking monthly dry production in 1973.

Monthly Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production

Oct 30, 2020
These monthly production estimates are based on data from Form EIA-914, Monthly Crude Oil, Lease Condensate, and Natural Gas Production Report.

Company Level Imports

Oct 30, 2020
Imports data at the company level collected from Form EIA-814, Monthly Imports Report.

U.S. Movements of Crude Oil By Rail

Oct 30, 2020
Monthly data on rail movements of crude oil have been updated for August 2020. Crude oil movements by rail have significantly increased during the past five years. The data on crude-by-rail (CBR) movements are also fully integrated with EIA’s existing monthly petroleum supply statistics, which already include crude oil movements by pipeline, tanker, and barge.

Petroleum Supply Monthly

Oct 30, 2020
Supply and disposition of crude oil and petroleum products on a national and regional level. The data describe production, imports and exports, movements, and inventories.

Monthly Biodiesel Production Report

Oct 30, 2020
Monthly national and regional biodiesel production data for August 2020. In addition to biodiesel production, data included producer sales, producer stocks, and feedstock inputs.

Monthly Energy Review

Oct 27, 2020
The Monthly Energy Review is EIA's comprehensive report on recent and historical energy statistics. Preliminary data for July 2020 indicate that total energy consumption in the U.S. commercial sector equaled 1.5 quadrillion British thermal units, a 5% decrease from July 2019.

Electricity Monthly Update

Oct 26, 2020
This month’s Electric Monthly Update contains data for August 2020 and a feature article about how operating heat rates of natural gas-fired combined-cycle power blocks are declining.

Electric Power Monthly

Oct 26, 2020
Data in the October 2020 Electric Power Monthly (EPM) are for August 2020, during which net generation in the United States fell 0.4 percent from the August 2019 level. Consumption of natural gas for power generation was down 0.1 percent compared to August 2019. The average residential retail price of electricity for August 2020 was down 0.1 percent from what it had been in August 2019.

This site contains spreadsheets with wholesale electricity and natural gas data from eight major trading hubs that cover most regions of the United States. The data are through October 20, 2020 and are republished, with permission, from the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).

The Energy Efficiency Gap and Energy Price Responsiveness in Food Processing

Oct 22, 2020
This report estimates stochastic frontier energy demand functions with non-public, plant-level data from the U.S. Census Bureau to measure the energy efficiency gap and energy price elasticities in the food processing industry. Estimates of the energy efficiency gap are smaller but empirically more reasonable when using this new estimation methodology. Own-prices are generally inelastic with little evidence of fuel or electricity substitution.

Electric Power Annual 2019

Oct 21, 2020
The Electric Power Annual 2019 (EPA2019) report is now available with final data through 2019. The EPA2019 presents 11 years (2009–19) of national-level data on electricity generating capacity, electricity generation and useful thermal output, fuel receipts, consumption, and emissions. The EPA2019 discontinues Tables 8.5 through 8.13.B. Table 8.5, Revenue and Expense Statistics for U.S. Cooperative Borrower-Owned Electric Utilities, is dependent on non-EIA data that EIA has not been able to obtain since the 2010 data year. Tables 8.6.A–8.13.B, which focus on North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Assessment Area data, were dependent on Form EIA-411 data. EIA discontinued the EIA-411 data collection effective in March 2020. These data are, however, still being collected by NERC.
